The status quo and analysis on myopia of college students in Baotou / 中国现代医生

ABSTRACT
Objective To provide scientific evidence for carrying out health education on vision, the myopia status of college students was understood in Baotou. Methods A total of 1 190 students were extracted from 3 universities in Bao-tou to conduct a questionnaire survey by random sampling. Results The myopia rate of college students was 78.74%. Mild myopia was the most, accounting for 43.12%; Moderate myopia took second place, accounting for 41.09%; High myopia was the least, accounted for 15.79%. The myopia rate of science, engineering and medical students was respec-tively 78.79%, 78.54% and 78.89%. The difference of myopia rate had no statistical significance among the students of different majors (P>0.05). The boy students' myopia rate was 77.08% and the girl students' myopia rate was 80.44%. The girls' myopia rate was higher than boys'. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The sit-uation is not optimistic that college students suffer from myopia in Baotou.
