RESUMEN

The purpose of this study is a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the use of dental trays-transformers for the manufacture of prosthetic designs for elderly patients with acquired microstomia. Was conducted a clinical study of 12 hemimaxillectomy patients from 60 to 72 years. The 1st group included 6 patients with acquired microstomia, impressions of the jaws were obtained with dental trays-transformers. The 2nd group includes 6 patients who have less traumatic oral opening, they were removed with standard dental trays. The group of clinical control consisted of 6 patients with partial absence of maxillary teeth, who needed to prosthetic dentistry. The results of the study indicate the effectiveness of the use of trays-transformers to impressions of the jaw in elderly patients with restricted oral opening, as well as in patients with normal oral opening. Optimization of the stages of obturator prostheses allows to provide qualitative prosthetic care of patients with malignant neoplasms of the oropharyngeal region, which has a positive effect on the quality of life of elderly patients with acquired defects of the oropharyngeal region.

RESUMEN

The radiation has an antitumor effect and causes radiation reactions and damage to surrounding tissues within the framework of combined antitumor treatment of patients with cancer of maxillofacial region. It also has an irreversible effect on the production of saliva by large and small salivary glands, and this must be taken into account when planning radiation therapy for this group of patients.

RESUMEN

Expression of genes encoding the individual subunits of ionotropic GABAA receptor was assessed after acute and chronic intoxication of rats with ethanol. The chronic 1-month-long exposure to ethanol signifi cantly decreased (by 38%) expression of Gabrb1 gene in the hippocampus. Acute exposure to ethanol elevated expression of genes Gabrb1 (by 1.7 times), Gabra1 (by 3.8 times), and Gabra4 (by 6.5 times), although it diminished expression of Gabra2 gene by 1.4 times. In preliminarily alcoholized rats, acute intoxication with ethanol enhanced expression of genes Gabrb1 and Gabra5 by 1.7 and 8.7 times, respectively. There was neither acute nor chronic effect of ethanol on expression of gene Gabra3.

RESUMEN

UNLABELLED: Results of the examination of patients with secondary lymphedema in the period 2006-2010. Revealed that the most frequent concomitant diseases in 150 (57,6%) patients with secondary lymphostasis lower extremities is hyperthyroidism. CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS: an increase in thyroid size, infiltrative endocrine ophthalmopathy; balanced, solid consistency swelling of the lower extremities to the level of the upper third of the leg; hyperkeratosis; paresthesias. The results of functional studies of the condition of peripheral lymph in patients with different stages of secondary lymphostasis lower extremities against a background of hyperthyroidism showed a direct relationship between the severity of the disease, the degree of decompensation of peripheral lymph and the state of thyroid function.

RESUMEN

With the development of vascular surgery began to attract attention to the problem of studying the long-term results of treatment. Long-term results of surgical treatment were studied in 110 patients with secondary lymphostasis lower extremities in the period 1997-2010. The estimation was made in two ways. First, the definition of value of basic clinical and social indicators, and secondly, the study target quality of life of patients. The analysis of remote results of treatment of patients with secondary lymphostasis lower extremities indicates that the quality of life and values of major clinical and social indicators quite adequately characterize the patient's condition after treatment and can be used alongside traditional medical data to assess long-term results, as well as serve as criteria in solving the optimal choice of treatment.

RESUMEN

Experimental skin ischemia in rats was induced by suturing a skin fold on the back with a silk thread. Combined pretreatment with superoxide dismutase (intraperitoneally) and Reamberin (intravenously) in doses of 0.01 and 6.25 mg/kg (by succinate concentration), respectively, produced a strong protective effect on the skin. The index of cytolysis decreased by 39%. The more pronounced antinecrotic effect of combined treatment with superoxide dismutase and Reamberin compared to the effect of Reamberin alone was related to a sharp increase in the reserve capacity of the antioxidant system. After combined therapy, activity of antioxidant defense enzymes not only increased, but even exceeded the normal level. The increase in activity of endogenous superoxide dismutase under the influence of combined therapy was accompanied by suppression of superoxide anion production.

RESUMEN

Parameters of NO metabolism in the gingiva were studied during experimental periodontitis accompanied by alloxan diabetes and exogenous hypercholesterolemia. We measured activities of inducible and constitutive NO synthase and concentrations of stable NO end metabolites in rat gingival tissue (total contents of nitrite and nitrate). Under pathological conditions NO-metabolism significantly differed from the control. Treatment with mexidol for 14 days significantly decreased activity of inducible NO synthase in the gingiva of experimental animals.

RESUMEN

Reamberin in a dose of 25 mg/kg (succinate concentration) was injected intravenously for 3 days starting from the 1st hour after skin ischemia modeling. This treatment decreased activities of lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate transaminase, and creatine phosphokinase in skin homogenates by 1.6 times, 19%, and 51.3%, respectively. The index of cytolysis decreased by 18%. Reamberin had an energotropic effect, which manifested in an increase in the total ATP content and concentration of creatine phosphate (by 16 and 10%, respectively). After administration of Reamberin, activity of the succinate-ubiquinone reductase system increased by 17%. Under these conditions succinate dehydrogenase activity exceeded the normal by 21%. Reamberin had no effect on the mitochondrial NADH-ubiquinone reductase system in dermal cells during skin ischemia. Superoxide dismutase activity in the area of necrosis increased to the control level on day 3 of treatment with Reamberin. Activities of catalase and glutathione peroxidase increased by 13 and 19%, respectively. Our results indicate that the course of intravenous treatment with Reamberin for 3 days contributes to an increase in reserve capacities of the antioxidant protection system and produces a protective effect during skin ischemia.
