RESUMO

Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are the two most important macronutrients supporting forest growth. Unprecedented urbanization has created growing areas of urban forests that provide key ecosystem services for city dwellers. However, the large-scale patterns of soil N and P content remain poorly understood in urban forests. Based on a systematic soil survey in urban forests from nine large cities across eastern China, we examined the spatial patterns and key drivers of topsoil (0-20 cm) total N content, total P content, and N:P ratio. Topsoil total N content was found to change significantly with latitude in the form of an inverted parabolic curve, while total P content showed an opposite latitudinal pattern. Variance partition analysis indicated that regional-scale patterns of topsoil total N and P contents were dominated by climatic drivers and partially regulated by time and pedogenic drivers. Conditional regression analyses showed a significant increase in topsoil total N content with lower mean annual temperature (MAT) and higher mean annual precipitation (MAP), while topsoil total P content decreased significantly with higher MAP. Topsoil total N content also increased significantly with the age of urban park and varied with pre-urban soil type, while no such effects were found for topsoil total P content. Moreover, topsoil N:P ratio showed a latitudinal pattern similar to that of topsoil total N content and also increased significantly with lower MAT and higher MAP. Our findings demonstrate distinct latitudinal trends of topsoil N and P contents and highlight a dominant role of climatic drivers in shaping the large-scale patterns of topsoil nutrients in urban forests.

RESUMO

Mercury (Hg), especially methylmercury (MeHg), is a pervasive contaminant that poses significant risks to birds occupying high trophic levels. However, we have little knowledge about the mercury exposure and its risks for birds in Poyang Lake basin, China. Therefore, during 2020-2021, we investigated MeHg concentrations in breast feathers of wintering migratory birds (n = 430 from 43 species belonging to 9 orders) in Poyang Lake Nanji Wetland and Jiangxi Nanfengmian National Nature Reserve, China. MeHg concentrations in breast feathers varied greatly by species, foraging guilds and taxonomic orders, among which the highest concentration was detected in great egret (8849 ± 5975 ng g-1 dw). Comparing with studies worldwide, high MeHg concentrations in feathers of Ardeidae from Pelecaniformes were found in this area. Moreover, herons migrating between northern and southern China had lower MeHg concentration than residents in southern China related to habitat Hg. Considering the applicability and sensitivity of the equations for the transformation of MeHg concentrations in feathers to blood-equivalent total Hg (THg) values, method CJ that the equation based on songbirds was used for the transformation of the songbirds and the equation based on seabirds for the others performed better than other three for risk assessment of bird Hg in this study. 23.1% of birds from Poyang Lake were at risk of Hg exposure based on the method CJ. Carnivorous birds from Pelecaniformes had the highest risk levels, with 37.2% categorized as no risk (≤200 ng g-1 ww), 48.9% as low risk (200-1000 ng g-1 ww), 11.1% as moderate risk (1000-3000 ng g-1 ww), 1.1% as high risk (3000-4000 ng g-1 ww), and 1.7% as severe risk (>4000 ng g-1 ww). These risks suggest long-term monitoring and further advanced studies about freshwater waterbirds Hg exposure is necessary.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for many diseases. Previous studies have shown that diet is closely associated with hyperlipidemia. However, the relationship between cooking methods and hyperlipidemia remains unclear. The objective of this study was to identify the major cooking patterns existing in the Eastern Chinese population and evaluate their association with the prevalence of hyperlipidemia. METHODS: We interviewed 4,710 residents in Eastern China regarding the consumption frequency of each cooking method when they prepare food at home or when eating out and regarding the prevalence of hyperlipidemia. Factor analysis, Chi-square tests, analysis of variance, and binary logistic regression analysis were used to identify the cooking patterns and analyze the characteristics of participants' categories of cooking patterns and the relationship between different cooking patterns and prevalence of hyperlipidemia. RESULTS: Three major cooking patterns were identified: Traditional Chinese, Bland (little or no oil is used to process the food), and High-temperature cooking patterns. After controlling for potential confounders, participants in the highest quartile of the Bland cooking pattern had lower odds of hyperlipidemia than those in the lowest quartile. Nevertheless, no significant associations were observed between the Traditional Chinese and High-temperature cooking patterns and the prevalence of hyperlipidemia. CONCLUSIONS: This study confirms the association between cooking patterns and the prevalence of hyperlipidemia and indicates that the Bland cooking pattern is associated with a reduced prevalence of hyperlipidemia.

RESUMO

There is limited evidence linking antibiotic exposure, particularly from contaminated food or drinking water, to childhood obesity. The study aimed to investigate the association between urinary antibiotic levels and overweight/obesity in preschool children. In the case-control study, 121 overweight/obese preschoolers and 242 controls (aged 3-6 years) from eastern China were enrolled in 2022 based on age, sex, and study site matching. Overweight/obesity was determined using body mass index (BMI) and weight for height (WFH) criteria derived from national data. A total of 50 antibiotics from 8 categories were analyzed using ultra-performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). We identified major dietary patterns using principal component analysis (PCA) and examined the associations of antibiotic exposure with childhood overweight/obesity using multivariate logistic regression. Twenty-four individual antibiotics were detected in more than 10 % of the samples, and overall detection rates were up to 100 %. Overweight/obese children had a higher exposure to veterinary antibiotics (VAs) than normal weight children. PCA analysis showed that children who were overweight/obese had higher scores of "Aquatic products preferred dietary pattern" and "Cereals preferred dietary pattern" compared to children with normal weight. Multivariate logistic regression analyses indicated that exposure to elevated levels of deoxytetracycline (OR: 1.72; 95 %CI: 1.00-2.93) and quinolones (OR: 1.63; 95 %CI: 1.04-2.57) was significantly related to an increased risk of BMI-based overweight/obesity. Quinolones exposure was also significantly associated with WFH-based overweight/obesity, primarily in boys. After adjustment for all covariates, higher exposure to ofloxacin (of the quinolones) was significantly related to overweight/obesity in girls. Exposure to certain antibiotics, especially quinolones, may increase the risk of overweight/obesity in preschoolers. More prospective, well-designed studies are needed to clarify these findings.

RESUMO

The effect of metallic elements on semen quality remains controversial, with limited evidence on the effects of metal mixtures. We conducted a study involving 338 participants from multiple centers in Eastern China, measuring 17 urinary metals and semen quality parameters. Our analysis used various statistical models, including multivariate logistic and linear regression, Bayesian Kernel Machine Regression, and weighted quantile sum models, to examine the associations between metal levels and semen quality. Logistic regression showed that higher urinary lead was associated with increased risk of abnormal sperm concentration (OR = 1.86, p = 0.021), arsenic to higher abnormal progressive motility risk (OR = 1.49, p = 0.027), and antimony to greater abnormal total motility risk (OR = 1.37, p = 0.018). Conversely, tin was negatively correlated with the risk of abnormal progressive motility (OR = 0.76, p = 0.012) and total motility (OR = 0.74, p = 0.003), respectively. Moreover, the linear models showed an inverse association between barium and sperm count, even after adjusting for other metals (ß = - 0.32, p < 0.001). Additionally, the WQS models showed that the metal mixture may increase the risk of abnormal total motility (ßWQS = 0.55, p = 0.046). In conclusion, semen quality may be adversely affected by exposure to metals such as arsenic, barium, lead, and antimony. The combined effect of the metal mixture appears to be particularly impaired total motility.

RESUMO

Assessing long-term tumor survival rates is crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of tumor treatment and burden. However, timely assessment of long-term survival in patients with pancreatic cancer is lagging in China. In this study, we applied period analysis to estimate the long-term survival of pancreatic cancer patients using data from four population-based cancer registries in Taizhou city, eastern China. A total of 1121 patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer between 2004 and 2018 were included. We assessed the 5-year relative survival (RS) using period analysis and further stratified by sex, age at diagnosis, and region. The 5-year RS during 2014-2018 overall reached 18.9% (14.7% for men and 23.3% for women, respectively). A decrease of the 5-year RS from 30.3% to 11.2% was observed in four diagnostic age gradients (< 55, 55-64, 65-74, and > 74 years age groups). The 5-year RS was higher in urban (24.2%) than in rural (17.4%) areas. Moreover, the 5-year RS of pancreatic cancer patients showed an overall increasing trend for the three periods (2004-2008, 2009-2013, and 2014-2018). Our study, using period analysis for the first time in China, provides the latest estimates of the survival of patients with pancreatic cancer, which provides essential evidence for the prevention and intervention of pancreatic cancer. The results also indicate the importance of further applications of the period analysis for more up-to-date and accurate survival estimates.

RESUMO

Aspergillus species is a widespread environmental mould that can cause aspergillosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antifungal susceptibility profile and genotypic characterization of clinical Aspergillus isolates from different provinces in Eastern China. The data included the antifungal susceptibility distributions with eight common antifungal drugs, cyp51A gene mutations of triazole-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus sensu stricto, and the genotypic relationships among the A. fumigatus sensu stricto isolates based on microsatellite typing. A. fumigatus sensu lato was the most common clinical Aspergillus species (n = 252), followed by A. flavus (n = 169), A. terreus (n = 37), A. niger (n = 29), and A. nidulans (n = 4). The modal minimum effective concentration values of micafungin and anidulafungin were lower than those of caspofungin for all Aspergillus species. The in vitro efficacy of isavuconazole was similar to that of voriconazole against most Aspergillus species. Sequencing revealed cyp51A gene mutations TR34/L98H, TR34/L98H/S297T/F495I, and TR46/Y121F/T289A in four triazole-resistant A. fumigatus sensu stricto. Phylogenetic analyses using microsatellite markers of A. fumigatus sensu stricto revealed that 211 unique genotypes clustered into two clades. The data demonstrate the diversity of clinically relevant Aspergillus species in Eastern China. Routine antifungal susceptibility testing should be performed to monitor the antifungal resistance and guide clinical therapy.

The 6-year multicenter study collected a total of 491 Aspergillus isolates from Eastern China to investigate the in vitro antifungal susceptibility to eight antifungal drugs, the cyp51A gene mutations of triazole-resistant A. fumigatus sensu stricto, and the genetic relatedness through microsatellite typing.

RESUMO

Marine biological activities make a non-negligible contribution to atmospheric aerosols, leading to potential impacts on the regional atmospheric environment and climate. The eastern China seas are highly productive with significant emissions of biogenic substances, but the spatiotemporal variations of marine biogenic aerosols are not well known. Air mass exposure to chlorophyll a (AEC) can be used to indicate the influence of biogenic sources on the atmosphere to a certain degree. In this study, the 12 year (2009-2020) daily AEC were calculated over the eastern China seas, showing the spatial and seasonal patterns of marine biogenic influence intensity which were co-controlled by surface phytoplankton biomass and boundary layer height. By combining the AEC values, relevant meteorological parameters, and extensive observations of a typical biogenic secondary aerosol component, methanesulfonate (MSA), a parameterization scheme for MSA simulation was successfully constructed. This AEC-based approach with observation constraints provides a new insight into the distribution of marine biogenic aerosols. Meanwhile, the wintertime air mass retention over land exhibited a significant decrease, showing a decadal weakening trend of terrestrial transport, which is probably related to the weakening of the East Asian winter monsoon. Thus, marine biogenic aerosols may play an increasingly important role in the studied region.

RESUMO

Due to the increasing number of returnees from malaria endemic areas, imported malaria has become a public health challenge in China. To better understand the characteristics of imported Plasmodium species and adjust appropriate strategies for malaria prevention and control in Eastern China, we conducted molecular detection and species identification on 1282 imported malaria cases in Shandong Province between 2012 and 2018. The findings showed that P. falciparum was predominant, particularly in cases imported from Africa. P. vivax was the dominant species imported from Asian countries. Additionally, imported P. ovale and P. malariae emerged in the province. Further surveillance and control of imported malaria among returnees from Africa and Southeast Asia is needed to be strengthened in Eastern China.

RESUMO

Exposure to metal mixtures may affect children's health but the conclusions are controversial. We aimed to investigate the associations of metal mixture exposure with children's physical and behavioral development. 15 metals were detected in the urine samples of 278 preschoolers aged 3-6 years from eastern China. Multiple linear models and restricted cubic splines were used to evaluate dose-response relationships between single metal and children's physical and behavioral development. The Bayesian Kernel Machine Regression (BKMR) models, the weighted quantile sum (WQS) models and Quantile G-Computation were applied to evaluate the joint effects of metal mixtures. The results showed that arsenic (As) was negatively associated with z score of height for age (HAZ) in individual-metal models [ß (95%CI): - 0.22 (-0.38, -0.06), P = 0.006]. Concerning children's behavioral development, multiple-metal models demonstrated a negative association with strontium (Sr) [ß (95%CI): - 0.82 (-1.38, -0.26), P = 0.004], and a positive association with tin (Sn) [ß (95%CI): 0.69 (0.16, 1.21), P = 0.010]. Notably, these associations remained significant or suggestive even after adjustments for multiple tests, sensitivity analyses, and application of different statistical models, including BKMR, WQS, and Quantile G-Computation. Furthermore, the study identified a negative joint effect of the metal mixture on HAZ, as demonstrated by BKMR and Quantile G-Computation models, with As playing an irreplaceable role in this observed impact. In summary, exposure to As appears to have adverse effects on HAZ, while exposure to Sn may hinder children's behavioral development. Conversely, exposure to Sr may have a protective effect on children's behavioral development. Additionally, the combined impact of metal mixtures is implicated in potentially impairing children's physical development, particularly in terms of HAZ.

RESUMO

Understanding the emission sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is critical for air pollution mitigation. Continuous measurements of atmospheric VOCs were conducted from January to February in Hangzhou in 2021. The average measured concentration of total VOCs (TVOCs) was 38.2 ± 20.9 ppb, > 42% lower than that reported by previous studies at the urban center in Hangzhou. The VOC concentrations and proportions were similar between weekdays and weekends. During the long holidays of the Spring Festival in China, the concentrations of TVOCs were ∼50% lower than those during the regular days, but their profiles showed no significant difference (p > 0.05). Further, we deduced that aromatics and alkenes were the most crucial chemicals promoting the formation of O3 and secondary organic aerosol (SOA) in Hangzhou. According to interspecies correlations, combustion processes and solvent use were inferred as major VOC emission sources. This study provides implications for air quality improvements before and during the upcoming Asian Games that will be hosted in Hangzhou in 2022.

RESUMO

Monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (MAHs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are both well known as hazardous air pollutants and also important anthropogenic precursors of tropospheric ozone (O3) and secondary organic aerosols (SOA). In recent years, there have been intensive studies covering MAHs emission from various sources and their behavior under stimulated photochemical conditions. Yet in-situ measurements of PAHs presence and variations in ambient air are sparse. Herein we conducted large geometrical scale mobile measurements for 16 aromatic hydrocarbons (AHs, including 7 MAHs and 9 PAHs) in eastern China between October 27 and November 8, 2019. This unique dataset has allowed for some insights in terms of AHs concentration variations, accompanying chemical composition, source contributions and spatial distributions in eastern China. In general, AHs showed a clear concentration variability between the south and the north of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD). The concentrations of PAHs were approximately 9% of AHs, but contributed 23% of SOA formation potential. Source apportionment via positive matrix factorization (PMF) model revealed that industrial processes as the largest source (44%) of observed AHs, followed by solvent usage (21%), vehicle exhaust (19%), coal combustion (11%) and coking processes (6%). In the perspective of PAHs sources, coal combustion emissions were identified as the dominating factor of a share of 41%-52% in eastern China. Our findings complemented the simultaneously monitoring information of PAHs and MAHs in eastern China, revealed the importance of PAHs to SOA formation and highlighted the necessity of formulating strategies to reduce emissions from anthropogenic sources and reduce risks to human health.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is known as a reliable alternative marker of insulin resistance (IR), which has been regarded as a predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, whether TyG index can predict the risk and occurrence of CVD in non-diabetic population remains uncertain. The aim of this study was to explore the association between the TyG index and cardiovascular risk factors and to clarify the prognostic value of the TyG index for CVD, coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke in non-diabetic general population in Eastern China. METHODS: A total of 6095 cases without diagnosed diabetes and CVD were included. The TyG index was calculated as ln (fasting triglyceride [mg/dL] × fasting glucose [mg/dL]/2) and the participants were divided into 4 groups according to the TyG index quartiles (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4). The primary outcome was CVD, including CHD and stroke. Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used to investigate the association between the TyG index and the risk of CVD. RESULTS: During the 10-year follow-up, 357 (5.9%) participants of CVD, 224 (3.7%) participants of CHD and 151 (2.5%) participants of stroke were observed. The incidence of CVD increased with the TyG index quartiles. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the hazard ratios [95% confidence interval (CI)] in Q4 group were respectively 1.484 (1.074-2.051) for CVD, 1.687 (1.105-2.575) for CHD and 1.402 (0.853-2.305) for stroke compared to Q1 group. Moreover, adding the TyG index to models with traditional risk factors yielded a significant improvement in discrimination and reclassification of incident CVD and CHD. CONCLUSIONS: The TyG index is associated with cardiovascular risk factors and can be used as a useful, low-cost predictive marker for CVD and CHD risk in non-diabetic population.

RESUMO

The Eastern China Marginal Seas (ECMS) have been facing a variety of environmental problems, including mercury (Hg) pollution. Although several previous studies have been focused on mass balance of Hg in the ECMS, the contribution of Hg transport at the sediment-water interface remains unclear. This study was aimed to access and quantify the importance of sediment-water transport processes in Hg cycling. Significantly positive correlations were observed between Hg concentrations in the overlying and bottom water and the diffusion rates of Hg from sediment to the water. Approximately 2-3 times higher of THg concentrations in the entire water column were observed in a winter cruise with strong waves which was supposed to strengthen the resuspension process. The mass budget of Hg in the ECMS further showed that diffusion and resuspension processes accounted for approximate 46%, 60%, and 16% of total input Hg in the BS, YS, and ECS, respectively. These results suggest that the sediment-water transport processes play an important role in Hg cycling in the ECMS. As an important "pool" of Hg in the ECMS, the transport of Hg at the sediment-water interface may affect the long-term risk assessment of Hg in these systems.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The aim of the study was to provide an overview of trends in the indications and surgical techniques for corneal transplantation in adults in East China from 2010 to 2019. METHODS: The medical charts of all patients (aged ≥18 years old) undergoing keratoplasty at the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital of Fudan University between January 2010 and December 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. The indications for keratoplasty and the surgical techniques were collected. RESULTS: A total of 2,929 cases were included. Acquired nontraumatic corneal diseases (n = 1,927, 65.8%) have been the leading indication for corneal transplantation during the past decade. Although infectious keratitis was still the leading indication among acquired nontraumatic diseases, its absolute number and proportion gradually decreased during this decade (p < 0.001). In contrast, the proportion of endothelial dysfunction/bullous keratopathy increased from 7.8% in 2010 to 12.4% in 2019 (p = 0.029). Penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) has been the predominant surgical technique (n = 1,854, 63.3%), followed by deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) (n = 361, 12.3%) and endothelial keratoplasty (EK) (n = 305, 10.4%). Nevertheless, the proportion of PKP decreased from 77.6% in 2010 to 56.9% in 2019 (p = 0.002) and was gradually replaced by DALK (from 7.8% to 16.3%, p < 0.001) and EK (from 3.4% to 10.4%, p = 0.009). CONCLUSIONS: Over the past decade, infectious keratitis and endothelial dysfunction/bullous keratopathy have been the leading indications for keratoplasty in adults. Preferred surgical techniques for keratoplasty have been shifting from PKP to more customized lamellar keratoplasties.

RESUMO

During the Lunar New Year Holiday of 2020, China implemented an unprecedented lockdown to fight the COVID-19 outbreak, which strongly affected the anthropogenic emissions. We utilized elemental carbon observations (equivalent to black carbon, BC) from 42 sites and performed inverse modeling to determine the impact of the lockdown on the weekly BC emissions and quantify the effect of the stagnant conditions on BC observations in densely populated eastern and northern China. BC emissions declined 70% (eastern China) and 48% (northern China) compared to the first half of January. In northern China, under the stagnant conditions of the first week of the lockdown, the observed BC concentrations rose unexpectedly (29%) even though the BC emissions fell. The emissions declined substantially thereafter until a week after the lockdown ended. On the contrary, in eastern China, BC emissions dropped sharply in the first week and recovered synchronously with the end of the lockdown.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To investigate the ability of body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), and body adiposity index (BAI) for predicting non-adipose cardio-metabolic risk. METHODS: A total of 17,360 Chinese subjects aged 18-95 years old who escaped cardiovascular disease (CVD) or diabetes were recruited in the cross-sectional study. Anthropometric and biochemical parameters were assessed. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) and multinomial logistic regression were conducted to examine the association of anthropometric indicators with cardio-metabolic risk factors. RESULTS: The mean age of subjects were 53.7(13.1) years, 41.6 % were males. The areas under the curve (AUC) demonstrated that WC, BMI, WHR, WHtR and BRI were able to predict high cardio-metabolic risk (AUC > 0.70). Meanwhile, multinomial logistic regression showed BRI was significantly associated with high cardio-metabolic risk (OR 3.27, 95% CI 3.01-3.55). The optimal cut-off values of BRI for high cardio-metabolic risk were (< 60 y: 3.49 vs. ≥60 y: 3.46) in males and (< 60 y: 3.47 vs. ≥60 y: 3.60) in females. CONCLUSIONS: WC, BMI WHR, and WHtR were potential obesity indicators in discriminating high cardio-metabolic risk, while BAI or ABSI was not. Moreover, BRI revealed superior predictive capacity and significant association with accumulated cardio-metabolic risk factors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the relationship between glucose and blood lipid among adolescents aged 12-17 years in eastern China during 2016-2017. METHODS: The data comes from the "Chinese Children and Nursing Mothers Nutrition and Health Monitoring" during 2016-2017. The detection of blood glucose and blood lipids were conducted among 8873 subjects(4405 boys, 4468 girls) from 8 provinces and 3 municipality of eastern China by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method. Logistic regression was used to explore the factors related to abnormal blood glucose. RESULTS: The average fasting blood-glucose of boys was(5. 24±0. 53)mmol/L, and girls was(5. 13±0. 54)mmol/L(t=9. 64, P<0. 05). The average fasting blood-glucose decreased with the increased of age(F=109. 50, P<0. 05). The abnormal rate of fasting blood-glucose differed among the subjects of various age groups were significant difference(χ~2=27. 16, P<0. 05). The abnormal rate fasting blood glucose of boys was 3. 44%(149 cases), and girls was 1. 93%(85 cases)(χ~2=14. 06, P<0. 05). The abnormal rate of 12-13 years old was the higest(n=126, 3. 58%) and the 16-17 years old was the lowest(n=42, 1. 67%). Both the TC and LDL-C were higher among the subjects with abnormal fasting blood glucose than those with normal fasting blood glucose(t=3. 03, P<0. 05;t=2. 41, P<0. 05). The result of logistic analysis showed that as the increase of TC level, the risk of abnormal fasting blood glucose was increased(OR=1. 98, 95%CI 1. 06-3. 71). CONCLUSION: The level of fasting blood glucose and the abnormal rate of fasting blood glucose varies in age and sex. The higher level of TC might be the risk factor of abnormal fasting blood glucose among adolescents.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the association between different types of obesity and blood pressure in adolescents aged 12-17 years in eastern China. METHODS: Using multi-stage stratified random sampling, a total of 8279 adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years in eastern China were selected as the research objects from the "Nutrition and Health Surveillance for Chinese Children and Nursing Mothers" project from 2016 to 2017. According to BMI and WHtR, the subjects were divided into four types: non-obesity, general obesity, simple abdominal obesity and combined obesity. The normal high blood pressure and high blood pressure of people with different types of obesity were determined according to Blood Pressure Standards for Children at 3-17 Years Old Per Year and Height in China. The relationship between different types of obesity and the prevalence of high blood pressure was analyzed by χ~2 test, analysis of variance, multi-level linear model and multi-level Logistic regression model. RESULTS: The prevalence of high normal blood pressure was 13. 66%(1069), and the prevalence of high blood pressure was 18. 79%(1782) in adolescents aged 12 to 17 years in eastern China. In the non-obese group, the prevalence of high normal blood pressure was 12. 85%(732), and the prevalence of high blood pressure was 13. 79%(999). In the general obesity group, the prevalence of high normal blood pressure was 20. 45%(99), and the prevalence of high blood pressure was 23. 62%(160). In the central obesity group, the prevalence of high normal blood pressure was 6. 95%(32), and the prevalence of high blood pressure was 14. 64%(87). The prevalence of high normal blood pressure was 16. 68%(206), and the prevalence of high blood pressure was 42. 42%(536) in the complex obesity group. The prevalence of high blood pressure(χ~2=8. 05, P<0. 01) the difference was statistically significant. Results of the multi-level model showed that the risk of high blood pressure in central obesity group was significantly higher in girls than in non-obese group(OR=1. 50, 95%CI 1. 12-2. 02). The risk of high normal blood pressure(OR=2. 05, 95%CI 1. 62-2. 58; OR=1. 83, 95%CI 1. 38-2. 42) and high blood pressure(OR=2. 06, 95%CI 1. 59-2. 67; OR=1. 57, 95%CI 1. 15-2. 14) in obese boys and girls were significantly higher than those in non-obese group. The risk of high normal blood pressure(OR=3. 80, 95%CI 3. 19-4. 51; OR=2. 79, 95%CI 2. 30-3. 37), high blood pressure(OR=4. 07, 95%CI 3. 39-4. 88; OR=2. 84, 95%CI 2. 32-3. 46) in both boys and girls with compound obesity was significantly higher than that in the non-obese group. CONCLUSION: Different types of obesity have varying degrees of correction with different blood pressure levels in adolescents aged 12-17 years, combined obesity has the highest risk of elevated blood pressure.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: H6 subtype influenza viruses were prevalent in domestic poultry and wild birds, which also could pose potential threat to humans. However, little is known about the prevalence of H6 subtype viruses in wild birds in eastern China, a crucial stopover or wintering site for migratory wild birds along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. METHODS: During the routine surveillance in 2016-2017, H6 subtype AIVs positive samples were identified, and the representative strains were selected for further sequence and phylogenetic analysis and the pathogenicity in mice were evaluated. RESULTS: Among the 30 H6 positive samples, there were at least four subtypes H6N1, H6N2, H6N5 and H6N8 co-circulated in Shanghai, China. Genetic analysis showed the 8 representative isolates shared homology with different AIV sub-lineages isolated from domestic ducks or wild birds in different countries along the East Asian-Australasian flyways, and were classified into 7 new genotypes. The pathogenicity to mice showed that these H6 viruses could replicate efficiently in the lungs without prior adaptation, but could not cause mice death. CONCLUSIONS: Eight novel strains belonged to H6N1, H6N2, H6N5 and H6N8 subtypes were isolated. Phylogenetic analyses revealed multiple origins of internal genes indicative of robust reassortment events and frequent wild birds-poultry interaction encouraging the evolution and emergence of new genotypes. The pathogenicity to mammals should be closely monitored to prevent the emergence of novel pandemic viruses.
