RESUMO

The Second Workshop on Systematic Screening for TB Disease and Preventive Treatment in the WHO European Region was held virtually on 15 and 16 April 2021. This is the continuation of a series of workshops hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, in collaboration with the WHO Global TB Programme, with the aim of scaling up the uptake and implementation of the latest WHO recommendations on tuberculosis (TB) preventive and curative action across the Region and encouraging investment into: 1) operationalizing the implementation of WHO recommendations; 2) implementing operational research to address evidence gaps; and 3) applying the best innovative practices across TB patient pathways. On 15 and 16 April 2021, over 250 participants met virtually to update each other, share experiences and discuss the prevention of TB through systematic screening and preventive treatment in the WHO European Region. This report summarizes the main discussion points from each of the four sessions from the workshop.

Европейская конференция ВОЗ по вопросам скрининга была организована Европейским региональным бюро ВОЗв Копенгагене 11-12 февраля 2020 г. и посвящена вопросам повышения эффективности, максимальногоувеличения пользы и минимизации вреда от проведения программ скрининга в Европейском регионе ВОЗ.Конференция стала важным шагом в инициативе Регионального бюро по укреплению процесса принятияполитических решений в отношении скрининга. В ней приняли участие 160 участников из 45 стран, в том числепредставители команды ВОЗ глобального, регионального и странового уровней, технических экспертов,сотрудничающих центров ВОЗ, Европейской комиссии и других учреждений Организации Объединенных Наций, атакже наблюдатели от неправительственных организаций. В ходе Конференции были определены восемьсквозных вопросов, с соответствующими проблемами и направлениями, требующими дальнейшего развития илидополнительной поддержки со стороны ВОЗ.

RESUMO

The WHO Regional Office for Europe held the WHO European Conference on Screening in Copenhagen on 11–12 February 2020 aimed at increasing the effectiveness of screening programmes within the WHO European Region, maximizing benefits and minimizing harm. This Conference constitutes an important step in an initiative by the Regional Office to improve policy decision-making for screening. It was attended by160 participants from 45 countries, including WHO team members from the global, regional and country levels, technical experts, WHO collaborating centres, colleagues from the European Commission and other United Nations agencies and observers from nongovernmental organizations. Eight cross-cutting issues emerged during the meeting, with associated challenges and areas for development or further support from WHO.
