BACKGROUND: In this study, we aimed to investigate the risk factors and impact of poststroke pneumonia (PSP) on mortality and functional outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT). METHODS: This was a post hoc analysis of a prospective randomized trial (Direct intraarterial thrombectomy in order to revascularize AIS patients with large-vessel occlusion efficiently in Chinese tertiary hospitals: a multicenter randomized clinical trial). Patients with AIS who completed EVT were evaluated for the occurrence of PSP during the hospitalization period and their modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores at 90 days after AIS. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate the independent predictors of PSP. Propensity score matching was conducted for the PSP and non-PSP groups by using the covariates resulting from the logistic regression analysis. The associations between PSP and outcomes were analyzed. The outcomes included 90-day poor functional outcome (mRS scores > 2), 90-day mortality, and early 2-week mortality. RESULTS: A total of 639 patients were enrolled, of whom 29.58% (189) developed PSP. Logistic regression analysis revealed that history of chronic heart failure (unadjusted odds ratio [OR] 2.011, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.026-3.941; P = 0.042), prethrombectomy reperfusion on initial digital subtraction angiography (OR 0.394, 95% CI 0.161-0.964; P = 0.041), creatinine levels at admission (OR 1.008, 95% CI 1.000-1.016; P = 0.049), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale at 24 h (OR 1.023, 95% CI 1.007-1.039; P = 0.004) were independent risk factors for PSP. With propensity scoring matching, poor functional outcome (mRS > 2) was more common in patients with PSP than in patients without PSP (81.03% vs. 71.83%, P = 0.043) at 90 days after EVT. The early 2-week mortality of patients with PSP was lower (5.74% vs. 12.07%, P = 0.038). But there was no statistically significant difference in 90-day mortality between the PSP group and non-PSP group (22.41% vs. 14.94%, P = 0.074). The survivorship curve also shows no statistical significance (P = 0.088) between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: Nearly one third of patients with AIS and EVT developed PSP. Heart failure, higher creatinine levels, prethrombectomy reperfusion, and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale at 24 h were associated with PSP in these patients. PSP was associated with poor 90-day functional outcomes in patients with AIS treated with EVT.

BACKGROUND: To prevent recurrent stroke, patients need to follow evidence-based practices following discharge; however, adherence to these practices is suboptimal. PURPOSE: To evaluate whether a smartphone mobile application can improve medication adherence and stroke awareness in secondary stroke prevention. METHODS: A retrospective study design was used. Patients with ischemic stroke registered in a database between August 2018 and January 2019 were enrolled. Propensity score matching was used to match patients managed with the mobile application compared with regular practice in a 1:2 ratio. RESULTS: Sixty-five patients were paired with 123 controls. Three-month medication adherence was 93.8% in the application group versus 82.9% in the control group ( P = .036). Patients in the application group were more likely to know stroke warning signs ( P = .003) and when to call an ambulance for stroke symptoms (87.7% vs 72.4%, P = .016). CONCLUSIONS: Using a mobile application may increase medication adherence and stroke awareness in secondary stroke prevention.

PURPOSE: Robot-assisted technology is a forefront of surgical innovation that improves the accuracy of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). But whether the accuracy of surgery can improve the clinical efficacy still needs further research. The purpose of this study is to perform three-dimensional (3D) analysis in the early postoperative period of patients who received robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RATKA), and to study the trend of changes in gait parameters after RATKA and the correlation with the early clinical efficacy. METHODS: Patients who received RATKA in the Center of Joint Surgery, the First Hospital Affiliated to Army Military Medical University from October 2020 to January 2021 were included. The imaging parameters, i.e., hip-knee-ankle angle, lateral distal femoral angle, medial proximal tibial angle, posterior condylar angle were measured 3 months post-TKA. The 3D gait analysis and clinical efficacy by Western Ontario Mac Master University Index (WOMAC) score were performed pre-TKA, 3 and 6 months post-TKA. The differences in spatiotemporal parameters of gait, kinetic parameters, and kinematic parameters of the operated limb and the contralateral limb were compared. The correlation between gait parameters and WOMAC scores was analyzed. Paired sample t-test and Wilcoxon rank-sum test were used to analyze the difference between groups, and Spearman correlation coefficient was used to analyze the correlation. RESULTS: There were 31 patients included in this study, and the imaging indexes showed that all of them returned to normal post-TKA. The WOMAC score at 3 months post-TKA was significantly lower than that pre-TKA, and there was no significant difference between at 3 and 6 months. The 3D gait analysis results showed that the double support time of the operated limb reduced at 3 and 6 months (all p < 0.05), the maximum extension and maximum external rotation of the knee joint increased at stance phase, and the maximum flexion angle, the range of motion and the maximum external rotation increased at swing phase. Compared with the preoperative data, there were significant improvements (all p < 0.05). Compared with the contralateral knee joint, the maximum external rotation of the knee joint at swing phase was smaller than that of the contralateral side, and the maximum flexion and extension moment was greater than that of the contralateral knee. The maximum external rotation moment of the joint was greater than that of the contralateral knee joint (p < 0.05). There was a negative correlation between the single support time pre-TKA and the WOMAC score at 3 months (p = 0.017), and the single support time at 3 months was negatively correlated with the WOMAC score at 6 months (p = 0.043). The cadence at 6 months was negatively correlated with the WOMAC score at 6 months (p = 0.031). The maximum knee extension at stance phase at 6 months was negatively correlated with the WOMAC score at 6 month (p = 0.048). The maximum external rotation at stance phase at 6 months was negatively correlated with the WOMAC score at 6 months (p = 0.024). CONCLUSION: The 3D gait analysis of RATKA patients is more sensitive than WOMAC score in evaluating the clinical efficacy. Trend of changes in gait parameters shows that the knee joint support, flexion and extension function, range of motion, external rotation and varus deformity moment of the patient were significantly improved at 3 months after surgery, and continued to 6 months after surgery. Compared with the contralateral knee, the gait parameters of the operated limb still has significant gaps in functionality, such as the external rotation and flexion and extension. The single support time, cadence, knee extension, and knee external rotation of the operated limb have a greater correlation with the postoperative WOMAC score. Postoperative rehabilitation exercises should be emphasized, which is of great value for improving the early efficacy of RATKA.

Bladder cancer (BLCA) is a common genitourinary cancer in patients, and tumour angiogenesis is indispensable for its occurrence and development. However, the indepth mechanism of tumour angiogenesis in BLCA remains elusive. According to recent studies, the tight junction protein family member occludin (OCLN) is expressed at high levels in BLCA tissues and correlates with a poor prognosis. Downregulation of OCLN inhibits tumour angiogenesis in BLCA cells and murine xenografts, whereas OCLN overexpression exerts the opposite effect. Mechanistically, the RT-qPCR analysis and Western blotting results showed that OCLN increased interleukin-8 (IL8) and p-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) levels to promote BLCA angiogenesis. RNA sequencing analysis and dual-luciferase reporter assays indicated that OCLN regulated IL8 transcriptional activity via the transcription factor STAT4. In summary, our results provide new perspectives on OCLN, as this protein participates in the development of BLCA angiogenesis by activating the IL8/STAT3 pathway via STAT4 and may serve as a novel and unique therapeutic target.

We aimed to examine whether type 2 diabetes-prevention diet, a dietary pattern previously developed for reducing type 2 diabetes risk, was associated with mortality in a US population. A population-based cohort of 86,633 subjects was identified from the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial (1993-2015). Dietary information was collected with a food frequency questionnaire. A dietary diabetes risk-reduction score was calculated to reflect adherence to this dietary pattern, with higher scores representing better adherence. Hazard ratios (HRs) and absolute risk differences (ARDs) in mortality rates per 10,000 person-years were calculated. After a mean follow-up of 13.6 years, 17,532 all-cause deaths were observed. Participants with the highest versus the lowest quintiles of dietary diabetes risk-reduction score were observed to have decreased risks of death from all causes (HR = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.72, 0.80; ARD: -81.94, 95% CI: -93.76, -71.12), cardiovascular disease (HR = 0.73, 95% CI: 0.66, 0.81; ARD: -17.82, 95% CI: -24.81, -11.30), and cancer (HR = 0.85, 95% CI: 0.78, 0.94; ARD: -9.92, 95% CI: -15.86, -3.59), which were modified by sex, smoking status, or alcohol consumption in subgroup analyses (P for interaction < 0.05 for all). In conclusion, a type 2 diabetes-prevention diet confers reduced risks of death from all causes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer in this US population.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: DIRECT-MT showed that endovascular thrombectomy was noninferior to thrombectomy preceded by intravenous alteplase with regard to functional outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke. In this post hoc analysis, we examined whether infarct size modified the effect of alteplase. METHODS: All patients with baseline Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) grades were included. The primary outcome was the 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score. Multivariate ordinal logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the adjusted common odds ratio (OR) for better functional outcome based on the mRS for thrombectomy alone versus combination therapy. An interaction term was entered to test for an interaction with baseline ASPECTS subgroups: 0-4 versus 5-7 versus 8-10. RESULTS: Of 649 patients, 323 (49.8%) were in the thrombectomy-alone group and 326 (50.2%) in the combination-therapy group. There was no significant treatment-by-trichotomized ASPECTS interaction with alteplase prior to endovascular treatment for the primary endpoint of ordinal mRS (p-value interaction term relative to ASPECTS 8-10: ASPECTS 0-4, p = 0.386; ASPECTS 5-7, p = 0.936). Adjusted common ORs for improvement in the 90-day mRS with thrombectomy alone compared with combination therapy were 1.99 (95% confidence interval = 0.72-5.46) for ASPECTS 0-4, 1.07 (0.62-1.86) for ASPECTS 5-7, and 1.03 (0.74-1.45) for ASPECTS 8-10. There was no significant difference in the safety outcomes between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: Baseline infarct size may not modify the effect of alteplase prior to endovascular thrombectomy with regard to favorable functional outcomes and adverse events.

The kidney is one of the main target organs involved in hypertension, and it regulates water and salt metabolism, blood volume and vascular resistance. High salt intake induces salt and water retention, persistent endothelial dysfunction and elevation of blood pressure in salt sensitive individuals. Dahl salt sensitive (Dahl-SS) rats, as a classic animal model for salt sensitive hypertension, have many similar stably inherited physiological characteristics to human with salt sensitive hypertension, such as salt sensitivity, hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance, renal failure, increased urinary protein secretion and low plasma renin activity. Based on renal physiology and biochemistry researches and multi-omics analyses in Dahl-SS rats, this review will summarize the relationship between salt sensitive hypertension and renal redox, NO, amino acids, glucose and lipid metabolism.

Linear, α-branched, and ß-branched aliphatic amines are widespread in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and fine chemicals. Thus, the development of direct and efficient methods to these structures in a tunable manner is highly desirable yet challenging. Herein, a catalyst-controlled synthesis of α-branched, ß-branched and linear aliphatic amines from Ni/Co-catalyzed regio- and site-selective hydroalkylations of alkenyl amines with alkyl halides is developed. This catalytic protocol features the reliable prediction and control of the coupling position of alkylation to provide orthogonal access to α-branched, ß-branched and linear alkyl amines from identical starting materials. This platform unlocks orthogonal reactivity and selectivity of nickel hydride and cobalt hydride chemistry to catalytically repurpose three types of alkyl amines under mild conditions.

Low-carbohydrate diets have become a popular approach for weight loss in recent years. However, whether low-carbohydrate diets are associated with the risk of pancreatic cancer remains to be elucidated. Hence, we examined the association of low-carbohydrate diets with the risk of pancreatic cancer in a US population. A population-based cohort of 95 962 individuals was identified. A low-carbohydrate-diet score was calculated to quantify adherence to this dietary pattern, with higher scores indicating greater adherence. Cox regression was used to calculate risk estimate for the association of the low-carbohydrate-diet score with the risk of pancreatic cancer. Subgroup analysis was used to identify the potential effect modifiers. After an average follow-up of 8.87 years (875856.9 person-years), we documented a total of 351 pancreatic cancer cases. In the fully adjusted model, the highest versus the lowest quartiles of the overall low-carbohydrate-diet score were found to be associated with a reduced risk of pancreatic cancer (hazard ratioquartile 4 versus 1: 0.61; 95% confidence interval: 0.45, 0.82; Ptrend < 0.001). Subgroup analysis found that the inverse association of low-carbohydrate diets with the risk of pancreatic cancer was more pronounced in individuals aged ≥65 years than in those aged <65 years (Pinteraction = 0.015). Similar results were obtained for animal and vegetable low-carbohydrate-diet scores. In conclusion, low-carbohydrate diets, regardless of the type of protein and fat, are associated with a lower risk of pancreatic cancer in the US population, suggesting that adherence to low-carbohydrate diets may be beneficial for pancreatic cancer prevention. Future studies should validate our findings in other populations.

No epidemiologic studies have been conducted to assess the association of intake of dietary vitamin K with the risk of pancreatic cancer. We used prospective data from the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial between 1993 and 2009 to fill this gap. A total of 101,695 subjects were identified. Dietary intakes of phylloquinone (vitamin K1), menaquinones (vitamin K2), and dihydrophylloquinone (dihydrovitamin K1) were assessed using a food frequency questionnaire. Cox regression was applied to calculate hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals. During a mean follow-up of 8.86 years (900,744.57 person-years), 361 cases of pancreatic cancer were documented. In the fully adjusted model, dietary intakes of phylloquinone (for quartile 4 vs. quartile 1, hazard ratio (HR) = 0.57, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.39, 0.83; P for trend = 0.002) and dihydrophylloquinone (for quartile 4 vs. quartile 1, HR = 0.59; 95% CI: 0.41, 0.85; P for trend = 0.006), but not menaquinones (for quartile 4 vs. quartile 1, HR = 0.93; 95% CI: 0.65, 1.33; P for trend = 0.816), were found to be inversely associated with the risk of pancreatic cancer in a nonlinear dose-response manner (all P values for nonlinearity < 0.05), and this was not modified by predefined stratification factors and remained in sensitivity analyses. In conclusion, dietary intakes of phylloquinone and dihydrophylloquinone, but not menaquinones, confer a lower risk of pancreatic cancer. Future studies should confirm our findings.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Hypercholesterolemia is characterized by the elevation of plasma total cholesterol level, especially low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. This disease is usually caused by a mutation in genes such as LDL receptor, apolipoprotein B, or proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9. However, a considerable number of patients with hypercholesterolemia do not have any mutation in these candidate genes. In this study, we examined the difference in the metabolic level between patients with hypercholesterolemia and healthy subjects, and screened the potential biomarkers for this disease. METHODS: Analysis of plasma metabolomics in hypercholesterolemia patients and healthy controls was performed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and metabolic correlation networks were constructed using Gephi-0.9.2. RESULTS: First, metabolic profile analysis confirmed the distinct metabolic footprints between the patients and the healthy ones. The potential biomarkers screened by orthogonal partial least-squares discrimination analysis included l-lactic acid, cholesterol, phosphoric acid, d-glucose, urea, and d-allose (Variable importance in the projection > 1). Second, arginine and methionine metabolism were significantly perturbed in hypercholesterolemia patients. Finally, we identified that l-lactic acid, l-lysine, l-glutamine, and l-cysteine had high scores of centrality parameters in the metabolic correlation network. CONCLUSION: Plasma l-lactic acid could be used as a sensitive biomarker for hypercholesterolemia. In addition, arginine biosynthesis and cysteine and methionine metabolism were profoundly altered in patients with hypercholesterolemia.

AIMS: Dahl salt-sensitive (SS) rats develop similar prediabetes lesion characteristics, such as impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), when compared with the salt resistant rat. In this study, we evaluate the risk of high glucose intake during prediabetes and reveal the metabolic pathways relevant to the pathophysiology of prediabetes to diabetes using the SS rat model and compared this with the salt-resistant consomic SS.13BN rat model. METHODS: SS rats were fed with normal chow ±10% glucose solution ad libitum for five weeks. The same experimental treatment was performed on the SS.13BN rats. Metabolites derived from the serum and liver tissue were measured through biochemical and metabolomics analyses. Multivariate, pathway enrichment, and metabolic correlation network analyses were performed based on the metabolomics data. RESULTS: Biochemical analysis revealed that serum triglyceride (TG) significantly increased with a significant decrease in serum total cholesterol (TC) after high glucose intake in the SS rat. Metabolic pathway analysis revealed that high glucose intake interfered with galactose, glyoxylate, and dicarboxylate metabolism, most evidently in the SS rat. Hepatic l-lactic acid content increased in the SS rat after high glucose intake, whereas the opposite was observed in SS.13BN rats. Metabolic correlation network analysis based on serum metabolites revealed that urea and l-valine had higher metabolic centrality in the SS rat. CONCLUSION: Our findings revealed that high glucose intake can significantly stimulate hypertriglyceridemia and reduce serum TC level. The profoundly altered metabolic pathway included galactose, glyoxylate, and dicarboxylate metabolism. l-lactic acid was screened as a biomarker in liver, whereas l-valine and urea were screened as hub metabolites in serum.

PURPOSE: Data on posterior circulation tandem occlusions in acute ischemic stroke are scarce: recognition may be challenging and little is known about optimal treatment strategy. We report our endovascular treatment strategy for posterior circulation tandem occlusion. METHODS: Consecutive patients with posterior circulation tandem occlusions in our centre were enrolled retrospectively. The preferred strategy was "distal-to-proximal" strategy, which means opening the distal occlusion first followed by treatment of the proximal pathology. The imaging characteristics, treatment strategy, clinical outcomes, and complications of patients with posterior circulation tandem occlusions were analyzed. RESULTS: In total, 21 patients with posterior circulation tandem occlusions were enrolled in the study, which accounted for 23.6% of patients with posterior circulation stroke in our centre. The mean age was 60 years (range 32 to 80), and median pre-procedure NIHSS score was 28 (interquartile range: 13-31). Eighteen patients (85.7%) had vertebrobasilar artery tandem occlusions and 3 (14.3%) had basilar artery to basilar artery tandem occlusions. All distal occlusions were successfully recanalized (modified TICI 2b/3). Two (9.5%) of the proximal lesions were not treated. A total of 57.1% of the patients had stents implanted on the proximal occlusions. The rate of mRS 0-3 at 3 months was 57.1% and the mortality rate was 19.0%. CONCLUSION: In patients with acute ischaemic stroke caused by posterior circulation tandem occlusions, we favor "distal-to-proximal" strategy based on the positive results in this small series. Nevertheless, a more extensive study is required to explore the optimal treatment strategy further.

Flower of Chrysanthemum morifolium is widely used in China and Japan as a folk medicine in treatment of many diseases. However, its active compounds remain largely unknown. In the present work, we have isolated, purified and characterized six new compounds (1-6), including two new arylnaphthalene lignans and four new phenolic glycosides, together with eight known compounds (7-14), from the flower of C. morifolium. Their structures and absolute configurations were elucidated in detail using 1D and 2D NMR, UV, IR, ORD, HRESIMS and ECD spectrometric data. In addition, compounds 1-3 possessed the significant neuroprotective activity against hydrogen peroxide-induced neurotoxicity in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells.

The Chrysanthemum morifolium flower is widely used in China and Japan as a food, beverage, and medicine for many diseases. In our work, two new caffeoylquinic acid derivatives (1, 2), a new flavanone glycoside (3), and six reported flavanones (4⁻9) were isolated and identified from the flowers of C. morifolium. The chemical structures of all isolates were elucidated by the analysis of comprehensive spectroscopic data as well as by comparison with previously reported data. The isolated constituents 1⁻8 were evaluated for their neuroprotective activity, and compounds 3 and 4 displayed neuroprotective effects against hydrogen peroxide-induced neurotoxicity in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells.

AIMS: Inflammation plays a crucial role in aneurysm wall remodeling, which could lead to the rupture of intracranial aneurysms. Stromal cell-derived factor 1α (SDF-1α), a vital inflammation cytokine, is also related to aneurysm pathogenesis. However, the characteristics of SDF-1α expression and its role in aneurysm remodeling remain largely unknown. In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression dynamics of SDF-1α and its correlation with aneurysm remodeling. METHODS: Saccular aneurysms were induced by porcine pancreatic elastase in New Zealand White rabbits. Aneurysm size was measured by digital subtraction angiography. Endothelial-like cells on the aneurysm wall were assessed on postoperative days 1, 3, 7, 14, 21, and 30. SDF-1α levels in the aneurysmal wall and serum were examined at several follow-up time points. Adherent molecule expression was examined, and migration assays were performed in vitro. After SDF-1α stimulation, the mobilization of endothelial-lineage cells and its role in the reendothelialization of the aneurysm wall were investigated in a saccular aneurysm rabbit model. RESULTS: After the creation of saccular aneurysms in rabbits, the aneurysm sacs were filled with acute thrombosis within 3days, followed by a significant enlargement on day 14 and maturation on day 21. Serum SDF-1α levels increased in a bimodal fashion on day 1 and day 14, whereas SDF-1α expression in the aneurysm wall reached its maximum on day 14. VE-cadherin was up-regulated after SDF-1α stimulation and down-regulated by the SDF-1α ligand blocker AMD3100. Endothelial progenitor cell migration was enhanced by SDF-1α and blocked by AMD3100. The in vivo administration of SDF-α to rabbits with saccular aneurysms promoted endothelial-lineage cell mobilization into the peripheral blood and reendothelialization of the aneurysm wall. CONCLUSIONS: The SDF-1α expression level in the peripheral blood and local aneurysm wall correlated with the aneurysm remodeling process in rabbits with elastase-induced saccular aneurysms. We conclude that SDF-1α may facilitate aneurysm wall remodeling by up-regulating VE-cadherin expression and mobilizing endothelial-lineage cells.

RESUMEN

Currently, the research of chemokines has penetrated into many fields of life science. A new kind of chemokines, chemokine like factor 1 (CKLF1), which is cloned through suppression subtractive hybridisation (SSH) technology is expressed widely in human body, especially in the lung and peripheral blood leukocytes. CKLF1 has a broad spectrum of chemotaxic activity for many cells, such as lymphocytes, macrophages, bone marrow cells, nerve cells and so on. In addition, CKLF1 also stimulates the regeneration of skeletal muscle cells in vivo. Collecting data derived from our and other laboratories show that CKLF1 has an important relationship with allergic diseases, autoimmune diseases, tumors, cardio-cerebrovascular diseases and so on. Therefore, there be an important theoretical purport and applied value to make a summary of pharmacological progress of CKLF1.

RESUMEN

An enantiospecific [3 + 2] annulation of γ-butyrolactone fused cyclopropanes with aromatic aldehydes was realized under Lewis acid catalysis. This method provides facile access to a series of chiral furanolignan derivatives bearing multiple contiguous stereogenic centers in good-to-excellent yields, exclusive diastereoselectivities and excellent enantiopurities under mild reaction conditions. Elaboration work on the product of this reaction delivers stereoisomeric analogues of (+)-virgatusin and suggests a structural revision might be necessary for a previously reported isolated natural product.

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the present study was to characterize the dynamic alterations of bone composition parameters and mechanical properties to disuse and mechanical intervention. METHODS: A tail suspension hindlimb unloading model and an in vivo axial tibia loading model in rats were used. A moderate mechanical loading that was capable of engendering 800 µÎµ tibia strain was applied to the right tibia of rats in both control and hindlimb unloading group across 28 days of the experimental period. The contralateral tibia served as control. RESULTS: Hindlimb unloading led to bone loss in tibia from day 14. Bone mineral density, mineral content and mechanical properties responded differently with microstructure to disuse in timing course. Mechanical loading of 800 µÎµ tibia strain failed to alter the bone of the control group, but minimized the detrimental effects of unloading by completely prohibiting the decrease of bone mineral content and main mechanical properties after 28 days. Less obvious influence of mechanical loading on bone microstructure was found. CONCLUSIONS: The moderate mechanical loading is not able to stimulate the mechanical response of healthy tibia, but indeed lead to discordant recovery of bone composition parameters and mechanical properties.

Three new caffeoylquinic acid derivatives, chrysanthemorimic acids A-C (1-3), and 11 known compounds (4-14) were isolated and characterized from the flowers of Chrysanthemum morifolium. Their structures were confirmed by spectroscopic data as well as by comparison of the experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism spectra. Chrysanthemorimic acids A-C possess a rare 8-oxa-bicyclo[3.2.1]oct-3-en-2-one ring that is formed through a [5+2] cycloaddition of caffeoylquinic acid with a d-glucose derivative. Compounds 1-3, 6-8, 12, and 13 displayed significant effects against hydrogen peroxide-induced neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells at 10 µM.
