RESUMO

The article presents comprehensive functional study of periodontal tissues in 62 patients aged 20-45 with periodontal disease by laser Doppler flowmetry, Doppler ultrasound and computer capillaroscopy. All patients were divided into 5 groups depending on the severity of inflammation in the periodontium (chronic gingivitis, light, moderate and severe chronic periodontal disease). The relationship between microcirculatory indexes was evaluated by Pearson Product Moment Correlation or PPMC. The study shows high correlation between blood flow velocity measurement, diameter of microvessels and oxygen saturation in periodontal tissues that establish a direct relationship between studied parameters.

RESUMO

Amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) is demonstrated in volume-distributed feedback (DFB) structures, formed by colloidal CdSe/ZnS nanocrystals and ZrO2 nanoparticles (NPs) in a polymer matrix. Periodic redistribution of the NPs in an organic matrix was carried out by holographic photopolymerization in a specially developed light-sensitive nanocomposite. The composite consists of two acrylate monomers and two types of inorganic NPs. The NPs provide for the formation of two co-phased gratings-a refractive index grating and an optical gain (losses) grating. The core-shell CdSe/ZnS nanocrystals are used as a gain medium, while ZrO2 NPs create the refractive index grating and enhance the distributed feedback. The period of the volume structure provides the feedback for lasing at the wavelength lambda(las) of about 575 nm in the second diffraction order. In contrast to known laser systems based on volume DFB cavities, in which the different components of the formulation provide optical gain and feedback, in our case the inorganic NPs serve as an emitting material and can provide simultaneously for feedback. By pumping of DFB structures by a titanium-sapphire laser (lambda(pump) = 400 nm, pulse duration of 120 fs) normal to the sample plane, the appearance of a sharp stimulated emission along the grating-vector direction is observed. Output intensity of ASE as a function of the pump energy shows a threshold behavior and full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the ASE spectral band decreases from 33 to 12 nm.

RESUMO

Experimental investigation of calcium ketopantoylaminobutyrate (Ca-KPAB), a new drug with a structure close to that of pantogam, showed that Ca-KPAB exhibits a pronounced antihypoxant effect on the normobaric and histotoxic hypoxia models. The new drug also produced a more pronounced antiamnesic action as compared to that of pantogam. A significant decrease in the effective drug dose in the case of Ca-KPAB is explained by its ability to readily bypass the blood - brain barrier.

RESUMO

The investigation of toxicity of calcium ketopantoylaminobutyrate (Ca-KPAB) showed that this newly synthesized compound belongs to the class of low-toxicity substances. The LD 50 of Ca-KPAB for oral administration is lower than that of pantogam. No toxicity manifestations and local irritant activity was observed upon chronic administration of Ca-KPAB. The therapeutic index of Ca-KPAB is more than 17 times that of pantogam.

RESUMO

Comparative study of the sedative (calming) properties of the new drug calcium ketopantoylaminobutyrate (Ca-KPAB) and the reference drug pantogam (calcium homopantotenate) showed that the newly synthesized compound produces a more pronounced calming action in several standard neuropharmacological tests (spontaneous motor activity, barbiturate antagonist, etc.) and exhibits some additional advantages. Thus, a slight modification of the chemical structure made possible a significant reduction in the effective drug dose.

RESUMO

To determine the role of ultrasonic and transcranial dopplerography in investigation of both arterial and venous systems of children's head in conditions of outpatient clinic were observed 100 children aged 4-14 years with autonomic dysfunction, migraine, neurosis-like and closed cerebrocranial trauma (concussion of the brain). There were estimated the qualitative indices of dopplerography (a form, distributions of the frequencies in spectrum, direction of the blood flow, acoustic characteristics) and quantitative indices (systolic, diastolic, mean rate of blood flow, indices RI and S/D) and alterations in venous circulation. In all the groups of children there were found angiodystonic manifestations in the form of the increase of vessels resistance in 87.5-97.6% of the patients; besides, the signs of venous dysgemia were observed in 28-50% of the cases.

RESUMO

11 persons, who had been irradiated chronically at low dose rate under occupational conditions in 1950s in doses 220-581 cGy according data of individual film dosimeters, and 5 control persons were examined regarding the level of glycophorin A (GPA) mutation type NO and NN in blood erythrocytes. Significantly higher level of GPA mutations type NO was registered in average in the group of exposed persons (23.2 +/- 4.6 x 10(-6)) compared with the control group (10.2 +/- 2.1 x 10(-6)) through the dose dependence was expressed slightly. The coefficient of the linear regression has equaled (2.3 +/- 1.2 x 10(-6)) Gy. The outlook on GPA assay usage in retrospective biodosimetry is discussed.

RESUMO

Biotin (0.3 mg/kg per os) and ubiquinone Q10 (50 mg/kg, per os) during chronic administration were found to produce stimulating effects on premature animals. The two drugs contributed to a more rapid development of memory and learning processes in premature new-born rats than in mature ones, normalized the major parameters of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. Some specific features and differences were ascertained in the stimulating effects of biotin and ubiquinone Q10.

RESUMO

Dynamics of distribution and excretion with urine of 125I-p-iodophenamine were studied impairment of rat liver tissue microsomal oxidation by means of CC14 treatment. This poison inhibited distinctly metabolism and excretion of the labelled compound in rats but not in rabbits, which was due to difference in the mechanisms of the compound biotransformation. The requirements for compounds suitable for studies of microsomal oxidation by means of excretory test were not met by 125I-p-iodophenamine.

RESUMO

A decrease in the endogenous NAD content that occurs immediately after gamma-irradiation of thymus lymphocytes is attributed to activation of poly (ADP-ribosylation) and not to changes in the activity of NAD-glycohydrolase and/or to the release of NAD from cells. The addition of benzamide 60 min before irradiation prevents the postirradiation drop of the NAD level and produces a radioprotective effect. At the same time, benzamide inhibits nuclear superhelix DNA repair and causes an average of 40 per cent decrease in the activity of DNA ligases I and II. The authors discuss the idea that the content of intracellular NAD in thymocytes is a critical factor responsible for the vitality of these cells.

RESUMO

In white rats with B6-avitaminosis, the B6-vitamin activity of pyridoxal-phosphate and of pyridoxine was studied in their epicutaneous and peroral application. It is revealed that pyridoxal-phosphate in epicutaneous application displays more activity than pyridoxine and pyridoxal-phosphate applied perorally. Pyridoxine in epicutaneous application does not reveal the B6-vitamin activity.

RESUMO

At the height of radiation sickness (7-8 days after irradiation) the accretion of proteins of "acute phase" in rat blood was accompanied by diminution of diminution of hydroxylating activity of microsomes determined by the rate of aminopyrine demethylation. There was an invert correlation between these two indices, and the correlation coefficient was -0.9.
